The New Year’s Eve shows were always a blast. At the midnight hour thousand balloons and confetti would float from the rafters as Bill Graham, as Father Time, would make his way through the crowd. in 1982 he was atop a gigantic mushroom, in 1985 he flew down from the ceiling as paper ache heads of the band members sat on a large birthday cake floated through the tripping fans. Robert Hunter and his then new band opened the show in 1982 and Etta James and the Tower of Power join the band for the encore. The Neville Brothers and Baba Olatunji were the guest for the 1985 New Years.
